I've been wanting to try this spot for awhile now. Kimmer's Ice Cream Shop has three locations. There is one in my town, Elmhurst. But my son and I drove to Wheaton for dinner and stopped by the Wheaton location after. This is my caught in the rain no makeup look. I had been picking vegetables at my parents' farm in Wisconsin earlier in the day. Notice the death grip on my ice cream, lol. Loving the sparkle cones available in pink or blue sugar. I have to admit I came down with a bit of a headache after all the sugar. I ended up not eating most of the cone. But the ice cream was super creamy...
A highlight of summer is the local farmers' market. I always love a good farmers' market.
Being in the Midwest, summer brings a bounty of fruits and vegetables as well as local meats, cheeses, handmade breads and soaps.

I met a friend downtown for a drawing and sketching adventure. We found spots to draw. I brought my sketchbook and my friend, her iPad. It was a great experience. I hope to do it again soon!
When I arrived home, I used photos I had taken to add some color with watercolor paint. My particular sketchbook is designed to hold watercolor paints. It was a very fun process! I felt like a kid again while painting in my sketchbook.
We had a lot of fun picking and eating currants on the ranch. There are both golden and red currants. We bought a jelly bag so I could make jelly. But I ran out of time before I had to come back to Chicago.
The currants are delicious with homemade granola. Here a neighbor friend made some as a gift.
A forgotten flower bouquet from friends that has dried quite nicely.
